Carnival has so many onboard activities for all ages, but my all-time favorite thing to do on a sunny sea day is slip down the water slides. Panorama has two main slides, both of which I find to be thrilling. I didn't have ocean views, but I appreciated the fact that I had no outside light shining through to interrupt my afternoon nap. I have booked a variety of cabin sizes on the Carnival Panorama, but I find an entry-level inside stateroom offers enough space and amenities, and choosing one is the best way to trim my overall budget. And while I've sailed a similar itinerary on Holland and Princess, I find that the Carnival Panorama offers a similar experience for far cheaper and doesn't skimp on activities, dining, and exciting places to visit. Carnival Panorama is a Vista-class cruise ship operated by Carnival Cruise Line.
Grand Suite
They're a far cry from the more sophisticated production shows rolling out in recent years in main showrooms on Norwegian Cruise Line and Royal Caribbean ships. If you've booked Carnival Panorama for a quiet getaway, you've made a terrible mistake. The overall vibe is "loud and lively," with an interior area that revolves around a bustling bar zone and casino; live musicians seemingly playing around every corner; and lots of interactive (and noisy) activities. In a nod to the youngest Carnival cruisers, Sky Zone offers one-hour "toddler time" sessions exclusively for children ages six months to 5 years, accompanied by an adult. There also are exclusive sessions for children ages six to 14, as well as passengers 15 and older. The latter two sessions are priced at $12 per person, including a pair of Sky Zone socks.
Balcony (8P)
Nearly every night of the cruise brings a different themed deck party (expect White Hot, '80s, Motown and more). The turnout for these was always sizeable, with young and older cruisers curious about the commotion and eager to join the dancing. Karaoke is offered almost every night of the cruise; check your daily schedule to see which venue is hosting it on any given night. The casino on Deck 4 jingles and jangles late into the night as well, conveniently located off the sports bar and comedy club.
Carnival Panorama Dress Code
A variety of choices will keep all age groups happy, such as nearly 30 dining and drinking venues, including an onboard brewery where you can taste a variety of craft beers. While inside rooms start at just 185 square feet — compared to ocean view cabins that start at 230 square feet — I thought it was comfortable. Even when I've shared an inside room on past sailings, the size never bothered me since I spend most of my cruising time outside on the decks and only use my cabin to sleep. With more space for stretching out indoors, plus a large balcony for kicking back outdoors, try an Ocean Suite to experience private, luxurious relaxation. Ocean Suites also include VIP check-in, walk-in closet and bathroom with whirlpool.

Couples looking to escape the crowds will find a haven on the adults-only Serenity sun deck. Thrill-seekers will enjoy the SkyRide, the SkyCourse and --first on Carnival Panorama -- the SkyZone trampoline park. Add in the constant stream of activities around the ship, most of them free, and you'll see how the vessel delivers on value. So, this wonderful ship called Carnival Panorama, what class is it? Carnival Panorama Spa Balcony cabins feature 35-, 45- or 65-square-foot outdoor spaces.
Deck 11
The Guy's Pig & Anchor Smokehouse Brewhouse, notably, has its very own in-house brewery you can see behind glass walls — something still relatively rare on cruise ships. It makes Carnival's house beers including Parched Pig West Coast IPA and Parched Pig Toasted Amber, not just for the Pig & Anchor but for several other drinking venues around the ship. Of note, Carnival Panorama's main theater, the 930-seat Liquid Lounge, houses two new-for-Carnival production shows, Broadway Beats and Rock Revolution. Both are old school cruise ship shows involving a dozen or more performers dancing around to a continuous blast of ever-changing tunes, with no storyline to speak of.

Also, there are some themed nights during the trip, and many frequent Carnival cruisers go all out dressing up in themed attire. There are two elegant nights, and we saw plenty of suits and evening dresses. There is also the White Hot Night party where travelers don their favorite white outfits and the 80’s Rock and Glow party with neon colored tops and hammer pants parading around the ship.

The highlight comes during Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, when a fleet of drones supplement the action on the stage. A bit of editing and/or time management would make this show better; it ran 45 minutes, which is long for a Playlist Production show (most of which cap at 30 to 35 minutes). The Liquid Lounge is the ship's main theater for Playlist Production shows and other events. Carnival is a seriously family-friendly cruise line, but Panorama aims sky high (pun intended) with new attractions like Sky Zone that kids -- toddlers through young adults -- can join in with their families or enjoy on their own. Kids and adults surpassing 4 feet can also reach for the sky with thrilling -- and free -- outdoor activities like the SkyRide cycle or SkyCourse ropes and obstacle course. The Promenade on Deck 5 is one of the busiest places on the ship, with a majority of Panorama's bars and restaurants, but it's also home to some noteworthy shops and public rooms. Surrounding the atrium there are a few more shops including the hard-to-resist Cherry on Top sweets and gift store. Walking toward the back of the ship, you will pass Library Bar -- it's a closed-off and comfortable space for reading, card play and games; a number of board games are available for free loan. There's actually no bar, but there are enomatic (self-serve) wine dispensers if you want to enjoy a glass of merlot while you lounge.
