Fully renovated in 2012, the Guest House features elegant California-style furnishings, with select rooms featuring kitchenettes, rollaway beds, and twin beds for additional guest needs. The hotel is superbly central, located near the Spanish Arch and the banks of the River Corrib with one street leading across the river to the West End and the other to the pedestrianised Latin Quarter.
For lunch and dinner, modern Irish cuisine is served, and a prix fixe early bird menu is offered from 5 to 7 p.m. Reservations are highly recommended for dinner, particularly on weekends. This contemporary four-star hotel is a great base for exploring Ireland’s most bohemian city — named European Capital of Culture 2020. The rooms are welcoming but, given the vibrant local food scene, the dining offer lacks imagination. Everything is within walking distance though, so simply eat elsewhere. The staff were so welcoming and kind especially thanks to Medbh who brought me toast as I was unwell.
